Mixing Perlite Into Potting Soil

For most houseplants, combine 1 part Perlite to 3 parts potting soil. For succulents or cacti, go half and half for extra drainage.

Combine Perlite and potting soil in a bucket or bowl. Stir until evenly blended ? the mix should look light, loose, and airy.

Add the mix to your pot. Don't pack it down. Roots need that open, airy structure to spread freely.

Place your plant, fill in around the roots, and water thoroughly. You'll notice excess water drains faster ? that's exactly what you want.
