How to Use: Raised Bed Mix

Purple Cow Organics Raised Bed Mix is an organic growing media for filling raised garden beds. Made from OMRI Listed ingredients and no topsoil or weed seeds. Raised Bed Mix provides all the benefits of organic matter thanks to composted green material, including sponge-like qualities which allow the mix to require less watering. Raised Bed Mix is also customizable for any garden needs! For best results, we recommend pairing with BIOACTIVE All-Purpose Fertilizer.

Raised bed gardening started gaining traction because many neighborhoods had soil with high lead contamination, making it unsafe to grow in. By using a product free of topsoil (and made from OMRI listed ingredients) you are ensuring that your growing media will be free of hazardous contaminants.

Fill your raised garden bed about halfway with Raised Bed Mix. Leave enough space at the top for your tallest root ball to be planted.

Prepare your garden plants by removing the plant from its container. Turn the plant upside down and gently squeeze the sides of the pot to loosen it. It may be necessary to lightly tap along the rim to dislodge it. Be sure to gently loosen the roots before planting.

Set the rootball of the plant on top of the mix. Add enough Purple Cow Raised Bed Mix to fill around each plant as you work your way through the garden bed. Water thoroughly until saturated. Wait for mix to dry at least 50% before watering again.
